All done!

Or as close to done as I could manage. Turns out there were only 999 pieces, so there's a chunk of Pooh missing.

What I did this weekend

Worked on the big niece's 1000-piece puzzle and still have quite a long way to go.

Just a spoonful of sugar

...and one of powdered milk make the avocadoes go down in the most delightful way.

This has to at least be better than my regular snacks, right?

This is not an illusion

The saucer refused to dislodge itself from the coffee cup.

Of course, it finally decided to let go as I was attempting to take a better shot.

Collector's item?

The "blacked out" milk carton is supposed to serve as a reminder to switch off the lights for Earth Hour.

I just hope the milk didn't get the same color treatment.

Major glare

Time to wear sunglasses indoors or to move stuff around so I'm not sitting facing the window.

Malfunctioning doors

...can actually be a good thing when the commuter train is pretty full due to earlier trips being delayed or canceled.

Because the doors on both sides aren't working, there's less crowding here. Unfortunately, more and more people seem to have gotten the same idea. Well, at least I don't have to make way for people getting on and off the train.

My nth childhood

Played around with the niece's Megasketcher last night. Didn't manage to take a picture then, so I decided to recreate and improve upon my previous work today.

And no, that is not a typo. I have in fact dubbed this...erm...masterpiece "my littol barrio".

Because it wasn't cold enough already

I decided to stand outside and wait for the bus while eating an Oreo McFlurry.

Never again

...will I eat McDonald's bean salad.

It's not that it tasted awful, it's just I couldn't taste anything at all. Also, the liquid the beans were in didn't help matters any.

Hmm...

Looks like someone doesn't like carrots.

Key lime pie on the cheap

80 Swedish crowns per slice is a bit too ouchy for my student budget and it's too much of a hassle to go out of my way to visit what is as far as I know the only restaurant that serves key lime pie in Stockholm, so when I spotted a key lime pie recipe on the label of a can of condensed milk, I decided to go for it.

The ingredients cost less than what I paid for the slice and the pie turned out be quite a hit. Although I do have to concede that the 80-crown-per-slice version at Jimmys Steakhouse was better.

Want to try making your own key lime pie? I've posted the recipe at Butchoks Kök.

No substitutes?

Saw this while standing in line at the checkout counter to pay for the books last Friday. Due to the resemblance to Trolli Brite Crawlers, which I've had sightings of in Sweden but can't find in stores other than in big assorted packs of gummy candy, I decided to give Bubblizz a shot.

The verdict? Bubblizz will do in a pinch specially since they're widely available, but I still want my Brite Crawlers.

Book sale loot

There's an annual nationwide book sale that begins every February. While browsing the book sale catalogue from the Coop Forum chain of hypermarkets (yep, they join in too), I spotted this book entitled "Life" by famed medical photographer Lennart Nilsson. I'm hoping the pictures will somehow inspire me to study more and I couldn't resist taking advantage of the price drop from 249 to 99 Swedish crowns, so I headed out to Coop Forum Fittja last Friday to go book shopping.

I also bought two books for the niece and the complete set of Arn books which the brother had asked me to get for him. All four Arn books cost 100 crowns total whereas they normally retail for 88 or so apiece.

Was tempted to buy a muffin and cupcake recipe book, but stuck to my list. I impulse bought oodles of books at book sales eons ago and hardly ever touched them.

It's a bird! It's a plane!

No, it's a grass mobile!
